2 DecThanksgiving gave me a minute to sit back and have a little fun putting together a Top Tracks of 2013 playlist. This clearly doesn’t include all of the great music that has filtered our ears this year but it is a collection of music that has been on rotation for me in 2013. I tried not to duplicate artists (I could have gone on for days with whole albums from the likes of Vampire Weekend, Cayucas, White Denim, Bastille, etc.) so I hope you like this playlist which should keep you going for hours and perfect for some holiday road trips.

2013 ACL Festival Lineup – Oct. 4-6, 11-13
7 MayDeep in the heart of Texas……in case you missed it at 12 a.m. CST/10 p.m. this morning/last night, Austin City Limits dropped their 2013 lineup. Expanding to two weekends this fall, October 4-6 and 11-13, Festival goers should have plenty of debating of who to see when the schedule comes out.

27 MarMy jaw is still on the floor scouring this lineup and seeing the insane amount of talent performing at Glastonbury this June 28-30. I mean just read through this thing a bunch of times. Sure The Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Dizzee Rascal, Primal Scream, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Vampire Weekend, Elvis Costello, The Vaccines, Kenny Rogers, Ben Howard, Rita Ora, Rufus Wainwright, Jake Bugg, Haim, First Aid Kit all on the Pyramid Stage is enough to get most anyone to buy a ticket but just look at the Other Stage and the John Peel Stage.
Just take it all in.
New Music: The Crookes – “Dreams of Another Day”
1 OctI know I know my affection with British music is over the moon but seriously some of the best new music is coming from across the pond. My latest find, The Crookes from Sheffield. It didn’t take long for me to be addicted to their EP Dreams of Another Day and really dig their folk, pop, rock style that blends genres of music from multiple decades to create their own righteous sound. Formed in 2008, The Crookes took off in 2009 being touted by BBC Radio jockey Steve Lamacq as “favourite British band of the year” and in September 2010 the band released Dreams of Another Day. “Yes, Yes We Are Magicians” and “Backstreet Lovers” are the two biggest highlights for me on the disc and make sure to keep an eye on these guys as they could be Sheffield’s next music hit following the Arctic Monkeys.
