Thank you T Bone Burnett! Thanks to the legendary musician, songwriter, and producer, this amazing supergroup of Elvis Costello, Jim James, Marcus Mumford, Rhiannon Giddens and Taylor Goldsmith T Bone Burnett, was put together to record (and now perform!) unused Bob Dylan lyrics written during the original Basement Tapes sessions. A couple nights ago this supergroup took to the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live and now tonight on Showtime the documentary Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued airs! The documentary goes behind the scenes with the talented songwriters listed above as they record their interpretations of lost and now found lyrics from Bob Dylan’s legendary Basement Tapes Sessions! Read more HERE from RollingStone.com and see the trailer HERE from Showtime.com. The album Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes was released on November 11.
I don’t know about anyone else but it’s like these two were destined to work together. When Disclosure dropped “F For You” with Mary J. Blige I was in awe and now that they are producing her new album, The London Sessions, I am in music paradise. “Right Now” came out last month and now let your ears give a listen to “Follow.” The album drops next week, November 24.
TGIF and to lead you into the weekend here is a new playlist to crank up and listen up! Hope you enjoy it.
Hands down one of the most amazing work opportunities I’ve ever had was getting a chance to bring The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil and members of the Las Vegas Philharmonic together for an incredible once in a lifetime performance at Life is Beautiful 2014. I could write for days all about the people who worked tirelessly on this project but I’ll do you one better; Thanks to the wonderful team at Cirque du Soleil, you can catch a glimpse of what went into making a crazy idea I had come to life for thousands to witness. If you were there you know what an unbelievable moment this was. If you weren’t, I hope this video paints a picture of what it was like on a lovely Sunday afternoon in Downtown Las Vegas. Life truly is Beautiful! Peace + Love + Music!
The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil performed with members of The Las Vegas Philharmonic at Life is Beautiful. Members of The Las Vegas Philharmonic performed a 40-minute tribute to The Beatles, playing original scores adapted specifically for Life is Beautiful under the guidance of The Beatles LOVE Music Director Giles Martin. The set included a captivating performance from LOVE featuring more than 50 dancers and aerialists from its resident production at The Mirage in Las Vegas. Here’s an inside look at how Giles Martin, and the Las Vegas Philharmonic collaborated to create this one-of-a-kind showcase.

I haven’t been a country music fan for a long time, to be honest until a few years ago I didn’t even listen to it but I did have the opportunity to see Garth Brooks at Wynn and that goes down as one of the best shows I’ve EVER seen. After that show I felt like I had known Garth Brooks his whole life. It was a special show and will always be one I remember. Since then, I’ve become a country fan and seen a staggering amount of country shows and always held that Garth Brooks show as the creme de la creme. Also since then, Garth Brooks has headed back on tour now that his daughters are off to college (he’s a family first guy and I LOVE that the most about him) and this video below from his show a few nights ago in Minnesota is even more reason to love one of the most celebrated musicians of all time. You can read more HERE but in short, woman has cancer and holds up sign which reads “Chemo this morning, Garth tonight. Enjoy the dance.” Garth see’s the sign, woman gets to the front row where he serenades her to “The Dance,” hands her his guitar, kisses her on her forehead and then addresses the packed house. Watch it for yourself, it’s a powerful moment.
Music is so powerful and truly the universal language, people like Garth Brooks don’t come along that often and thank God for people like him. So yes, fuck cancer and for everyone battling this terrible disease, I hope and pray you stay strong and beat it.
Dad! I know you’re reading this post so you have to listen to this track! Instantly thought of you when I first heard this.
Anyone who know me understands what a huge Mark Ronson fan I am (if you think he’s an incredible musician/producer you should hear one of his DJ sets) and while yesterday I posted his latest single “Daffodils” ft. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, this track, “Uptown Funk!” ft. Bruno Mars is getting me so much more excited for the album Uptown Special to be released on January 27.
Give a listen to Australian, George Maple’s “Vacant Space,” swoon! The songstress is getting set to drop her second EP December 1 and my guess is that 2015 is going to be a massive year for her. You may recognize her voice from Flume’s “Bring You Down” and now the Producer/DJ has returned the favor to drop some killer beats for this future star.
