New Music: Vacationer – Gone

27 Jun

One word:  Vacationer

Who? An east coast band (NYC based) you are going to want to start listening to

What? Gone, the album which dropped earlier this year

Why you should listen? Want to go on a vacation without actually going on one?  This is the band.  As their website states “If you could go anywhere,” do it as you listen to this harmonious and soothing washed out sound.  It’s like sunshine on a rainy day, brings a smile to your face and lets you daydream. And if you live in the land of sunshine, keep smiling!

A reason you’ll be excited? Really, vacation and daydream aren’t enough?  Well if you take the throwback style of Little Joy and made it more instrumental, voila!

Why I’m excited: I’ve been craving some mellow good tunes to just relax to.  May have just found that!

If you like: Bombay Bicycle Club, Neon Indian; harmonies have been compared as “Beach Boys-esque”

Final thoughts: This sound is not for everyone but if you are willing to give Vacationer a chance, I’m sure this band will come around on you and help you dream about that vacation to St. Barts or chilling in the backyard on your own little vacation from the real world.

New Music: King Charles – LoveBlood

22 Jun

Two words: King Charles

Who? A rising singer-songwriter from London (to note – he is already a big deal in London)

What?  His debut album, LoveBlood (released May 8)

Why you should listen? Because he’s awesome and this classically trained singer-songwriter brings a bunch of sounds including some island vibes blended into indie, folk-pop

A reason you’ll be excited?  He got Mumford & Sons to sing on the track below

Why I’m excited: I believe I have found my album of the summer; yet another rising star from across the pond and he is very diverse in his music from track to track but makes it work. Just listen to the title track below too.

If you like: Vampire Weekend, Jake Bugg, Dry The River, Theme Park, Little Comets and obviously Mumford & Sons

Final thoughts: Hop on the train now because soon enough, everyone in the States will know King Charles and you just may be bowing to him

Now Playing: White Arrows – Dry Land Is Not A Myth

21 Jun

Been lagging a bit on posts this week but have no fear, back and ready to rock.  Lately I’ve been really digging White Arrows and this week, their debut album, Dry Land Is Not A Myth, was released and one you need to get on asap.  What’s really cool about this album, RAC produced it! Yup!  So take the LA kids with the remix geniuses and what you get is an explosive album of nonstop party tracks that will certainly be on your soundtrack of the summer.

Head over to Spotify and listen to their album.

News: @WalkTheMoonband Self Titled Album Drops Today!

19 Jun

I couldn’t be more excited today for the fellas of Walk The Moon as they release their self titled debut album on RCA Records. Having had the pleasure of meeting the guys, interviewing them and seeing them in concert at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and here in Las Vegas I feel like I’ve kind of been along for the ride a little. I’m beyond stoked that they are now getting heavy airplay, being tabbed by MTV as a Push artist, Esquire.com adding them to the songs of the summer (for a second year in a row) and more. These guys are still ascending and it’s one of those things that just makes me smile; plus I think everyone should be digging their music and right in time for summer it’s perfect tunes to enjoy three months of sunshine. Added bonus, tune in to David Letterman tonight where the guys will be the special music act.

Track listing
1.) Quesadilla
2.) Lisa Baby
3.) Next In Line
4.) Anna Sun
5.) Tightrope
6.) Jenny
7.) Shiver Shiver
8.) Lions
9.) Iscariot
10.) Fixin’
11.) I Can Lift A Car

Happy Birthday Sir Paul McCartney!

18 Jun

Happy 70th birthday to the legend, Sir Paul McCartney!  Still out there rocking and rolling, and let’s hope this doesn’t stop anytime soon!

Real quick – in a past life I interacted with celebrities on a weekly basis and never got star struck except for one time, with Sir Paul McCartney himself. It was the opening of LOVE at the Mirage Las Vegas and I guess I just view him as bigger than life so for me it was interacting with a person who is not only celebrated around the world but someone who connects with people of all ages.

New Music: Passion Pit – “Take A Walk” (Music Video)

18 Jun

If you’re like me and excited about Passion Pit’s new album Gossamer, check out this new video for “Take A Walk” off the upcoming LP.  The new album drops July 24 and if you are heading to festivals check them out at Lollapalooza, Firefly Music Festival and Outside Lands.

Now Playing: Jimmy Fallon & The Roots w/Carly Rae Jepsen – “Call Me Maybe” (w/Classroom Instruments)

17 Jun

I love The Roots and I love Jimmy Fallon so naturally any music collaboration they dream up I am all about. Even with shenanigans like this, recording “Call Me Maybe” with it girl of the moment, Carly Rae Jepsen. The Late Night-ers used grade school instruments for this rendition and I have to say, it’s pretty amazing (how’s 3.3 million views in under 10 days?!). Just look at the facial reactions from The Roots (especially Black Thought), this is priceless. Once again Jimmy Fallon, take a bow – the Late Night King of today!
