News: @glove & Special Sauce – New Single/Album and A Blast From The Past

21 Jan

I’m pretty sure this means more to me but I figured why not share it with everyone. G. Love has announced that on the heels of G. Love & Special Sauce’s 20th Anniversary and in addition to a new album, Sugar, which drops April 22, Jimi Jazz is returning to the group for the first time in eight years and will be on tour this spring! Pumped about this one and if you’re a G. Love fan, you know there is nothing quite like G. Love, the Houseman and Jimi Jazz all on stage together.

Also, give a listen to the first single off the upcoming album, “Nothing Quite Like Home.” Want more? Ben Harper contributes to the track!! Now gimme some Sugar!

Now Playing: @GLove – “On 9/11/01” – #NeverForget

11 Sep

Today is a day we remember and never forget. 11 years since that terrible, tragic day and shortly after I head this track from G. Love and have listened to it every September 11 since.  A tip of the hat once again the maestro, Garrett Dutton, for penning a song so meaningful.

The lyrics:
Flags flown at half mast
To remember all the lives past and gone
Before their time had come
From a hijacker’s crash
A terrible blast
A building collapses
and falls to the ground

Who would have known?

So long and hard to make
So easy to break
Foundations quake
To rock your world

Planes exploding in the sky
No one knows the reasons why
Make me wanna cry

How hard it is
to protect yourself
from hatred
you cant understand
dedication to destruction
is their unholy plan
No corporate scenes
they move in a mist
try to shake their hands
while their slicing your wrists
killers beyond comprehensions of our minds
how cowards could burn up blood in the skies
blood in our eyes
on 9-11-01

Planes exploding in the sky
No one knows the reasons why
Hold my little baby tight
make me wanna cry
and find a way
to carry on

New York City on lock down
The whole east coast on lock down
Hold your family close on lock down

Our country mourns the day
so many bright lights
young live were
taken away
forever and ever
And No one can replace
and how can i forget this day

Planes exploding in the sky
No one knows the reasons why
Hold my little baby tight
make me wanna cry

Planes exploding in the sky
On 9-11-01
The day the devils died
To kill our loved ones
hold my little baby tight
On 9-11-01
Make me wanna cry
and find a way
to carry on

Revisited: G. Love & Special Sauce (Vegas SEVEN – July 28 Issue)

29 Jul

Check it out, I had the opportunity to review G. Love & Special Sauce last week at the Silverton.  My review appears in the July28 issue of Vegas SEVEN. Hope you enjoy it!

Tonight: The Avett Brothers, Tomorrow: G.Love & Special Sauce and more

22 Jul

Holy concerts!  Vegas is stacked this weekend with a ton of great shows.  For me, it’s simple; I’ve been waiting a while to see The Avett Brothers and they are the Friday night selection.  Tomorrow, I can’t stray from one of my favorite artists, G. Love.  I’m starting to lose count on how many of his shows I’ve been to and if his performance is anything like it was at Bonnaroo, oh man are we in for a treat.  Both are performing at the Silverton inside Veil which is almost as intimate of a venue as you can get in Vegas.

Also on Saturday, Queens Of The Stone Age play Cosmopolitan, Soundgarden is back and rocks out at The Joint, INXS is at Pearl at Palms and local jam band about to make it big, Moksha is at House of Blues.

New Music: The Apache Relay

17 Jun

A band I recently started listening to and also had the opportunity to see live at Bonnaroo was The Apache Relay.  The roots-rock quartet hailing from Nashville, Tennessee is a band everyone needs to check out, especially if you are a fan of The Avett Brothers, John Butler Trio and The Boss, Bruce Springsteen.  On their latest record, American Nomad, the band’s energetic grooves and vocals of Michael Ford Jr. come together to unleash a sound that is contagious from start to finish; bouncing between soft, melodic sing-alongs and upbeat jams.  I will also say that while I dig the disc, seeing them live is where it’s at.

And one more reason to love and listen to The Apache Relay, they have already been on the road with one of my favorite artists, G. Love.
