NEW YORK
MTV is taking its inaugural O Music Awards to Las Vegas.
The network announced Tuesday that its planned show honoring digital music and fandom will take place at a “mystery location” in Las Vegas on April 28. The hourlong live show will stream online and on mobile.
The show includes categories like “must-follow artist on Twitter” and “best fan cover.” Fan voting will decide the awards. MTV says 1.9 million votes have been cast.
At the Vegas event, rapper Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege of the hip-hop group Chiddy Bang will try to enter the Guinness World Records for longest freestyle rap.
Other scheduled performers will include Lupe Fiasco, Lil B, Matt & Kim and Mumford & Sons.
Anyone who has been a Knicks fan since the last time they were in the playoffs probably remembers the “Go NY Go” theme song. Well check this, Swizz Beatz brought it back and remixed the original featuring Carmelo and Amare! Ha ha! So if you’re down with the Orange and Blue, listen up! Game time is in less than two hours!
Here’s the original from 1994 as well as the 1999 version.
Here is a playlist for April. I’m going to try and make a new one each month so be on the lookout. These selections are a mix of the artists I’ve been listening to lately. Let me know what you like, don’t like, want to hear more of. Weather is getting nicer out so the need for driving and pool music is a necessity!
Cheers!
Craig

What a weekend for live music it was in Las Vegas. So many great bands and DJs in town stopping through before hitting Coachella that it almost felt like Coachella East as there was an electricity all weekend. On Thursday, seeing Jenny & Johnny perform at the Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan was just awesome and a great way to kick things off. Caught a couple minutes of Chairlift’s set after but wasn’t too impressed. Friday night was bananas at Mumford & Sons rocked the Boulevard pool (when the weather is perfect I don’t know if there is a better place in Las Vegas to see a show); Tallest Man On Earth was a great opener as well. My musical weekend was wrapped up on Saturday night as Nas and Damian Marley took to the stage for what’s always a fun and energetic performance.
Here’s the weekend in pictures, Jenny & Johnny courtesy of me and Mumford & Sons and Nas and Damian via Erik Kabik (www.erikkabikphoto.com).
