Vegas, time to wake up, set your alarm and make sure you get tickets to see the man, Ray LaMontagne, on September 16 at the Pearl at Palms. Normally I wouldn’t be this excited about a show (okay, who are we kidding, I freaking love Ray LaMontagne) but this one is going to be a special one as LaMontagne will be joined by his backing band consisting of Tommy Blankenship, Carl Broemel, Bo Koster, and Patrick Hallahan … aka the gents from My Morning Jacket (another band I love) minus Jim James. As a music fan you have to be salivating at the prospect of what this show will be like! Add in that the Pearl’s acoustics are off the charts amazing and that this is a big underplay and you have something special.
Tickets go on-sale Friday, March 4th at noon.
The wait is over, new music from The Lumineers! Four years since their debut album brings “Ophelia,” the first track off the forthcoming Cleopatra which is due out April 8.
I still can’t accept that musicians seem to be dropping like flies this year. Crazy and sad but there has to be something to be done in their honor and that is celebrate their lives and the music they gifted us. This one, this one strikes me in a whole different way, I grew up listening to Earth, Wind & Fire because of my parents. They were a staple on rotation in the car, on reel to reel, cassette to CD to iPod, etc., really for my whole life thanks to my parents (and where I get my music tastes from) and this one hits us hard as a family but we’ll raise a glass, crank up the stereo and pay respect to Maurice White. Your music and place in history will never be forgotten. Now go enjoy that amazing concert that’s happening in a far, far away place!
2016 has taken quite the musical legends thus far and I encourage anyone who’s a fan of Glenn Frey, The Eagles, Almost Famous, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, etc. to read THIS piece Cameron Crowe penned about his history with Frey. It’s short, quick and perfect. Enjoy!
On a personal note. Thank you, Cameron Crowe, thank you. Ever since I read his foreword for Ben Fong-Torres’ book, Not Fade Away (which is an amazing read), I have been hooked. I’m enamored with Cameron Crow, the true rock star.

Man, there is a heck of a concert, festival, event, or something going on in a far away place. Another music legend has left us, RIP Glenn Frey. More words about The Eagles’ founding member from Pitchfork, here.
This song seems appropriate.
DOOKIE Alert….okay just normal coffee here but with a slight twist. Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt of Green Day have launched Oakland Coffee Works and have released their own line of whole-bean coffee with compostable bags and the world’s first compostable single-serve pods. More words HERE from Financial Times.
Vegas’ own, The Killers, are back with the 10th installment of their annual Christmas tune with the 2015 addition, “Dirt Sledding.” More words can be found HERE via Rolling Stone.
Quite the band being assembled upstairs. Today we say goodbye to one of the uber talented musicians of our lifetime and one of New Orleans’ finest, Allen Toussaint. More words HERE via the New York Times. Rest in peace Mr. Toussaint.
