Leon Bridges’ Coming Home out today!

23 Jun

Music fans, if you buy one album this year make it Leon Bridges‘ Coming Home which is out today! The smooth and sly 25 year old has already been compared to Sam Cooke and Otis Redding with his old-school soul sound and while his studio stuff has all the chops to become album of the year, it’s his live show that will have you weak in the knees. So do two things this new music Tuesday, go buy the album and go find yourself a Leon Bridges concert to attend.

Peace + Love + Music

Check out his performance last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Now Playing: My Morning Jacket – “Believe (Nobody Knows)”

6 May

Yesterday was a ridiculous New Music Tuesday. We’re talking Mumford & Sons, Tallest Man on Earth, Best Coast, METZ, Mikal Cronin, Django Django, Palma Violets, Hiatus Kaiyote, Ivan & Alyosha but the one release I was most psyched about was by far My Morning Jacket and the release of The Waterfall. So pumped the guys are back with a new album, back on tour and comig to a city near you. If you’ve never been fortunate enough to catch MMJ live, change that this summer. And for you Vegas peeps, they are coming to Brooklyn Bowl for a two night stint, October 9-10!

It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time, No Seriously! Thanks @Galantis #seafoxnation

24 Apr

The Life is Beautiful 2014 alums do it again! Another big disco inspired dance track from Galantis, the duo of Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw! I put it on the April 2015 DoYouHearTheMusic.com playlist but give a listen to “Peanut Butter Jelly” here and get ready to start grooving! Totally the perfect song to get your weekend started.

New Music: Mikal Cronin – “ii) Gold”

10 Mar

A second track off the upcoming MCIII has been released this morning by Mikal Cronin. Give a listen to “ii) Gold” below and read more HERE from Stereogum. Back in January he debuted the lead single “Made My Mind Up.”

New Music Tuesday: Viet Cong, Belle & Sebastian, Lupe Fiasco, Sleater-Kinney, The Decemberists and more

20 Jan

Digging today’s new music Tuesday and you should too!

The release I’m probably most excited about today comes from Viet Cong and their highly anticipated self titled debut.

Also out today:

Belle & Sebastian – Girls In Peace Time Want To Dance

Ryan Bingham – Fear and Saturday Night

Lupe Fiasco – Tetsuo & Youth

Mikky Ekko – Time

Sleater-Kinney – No Cities To Love

To mark their reunion, check out this celeb filled video singing the title track

The Decemberists – What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World

Joey Bada$$ – B4.DA.$$

Now Playing: Benjamin Booker – “Violent Shiver”

5 Aug

I can’t wait until August 19, my birthday and the release of Benjamin Booker’s self titled debut release! Happy Birthday to me! If you don’t know, you need to crank up the volume and press play. This year he’s already toured with Jack White and Courtney Barnett as well as making the rounds on the festival circuit this summer and oh man I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this kid. His future is bright. Give a listen and get down with this guitar whiz.

Now Playing: Coldplay – “A Sky Full Of Stars”

29 Apr

Coldplay’s new song “A Sky Full Of Stars”, produced by Avicii. The new album, Ghost Stories drops May 19.
