Tonight: The Avett Brothers, Tomorrow: G.Love & Special Sauce and more

22 Jul

Holy concerts!  Vegas is stacked this weekend with a ton of great shows.  For me, it’s simple; I’ve been waiting a while to see The Avett Brothers and they are the Friday night selection.  Tomorrow, I can’t stray from one of my favorite artists, G. Love.  I’m starting to lose count on how many of his shows I’ve been to and if his performance is anything like it was at Bonnaroo, oh man are we in for a treat.  Both are performing at the Silverton inside Veil which is almost as intimate of a venue as you can get in Vegas.

Also on Saturday, Queens Of The Stone Age play Cosmopolitan, Soundgarden is back and rocks out at The Joint, INXS is at Pearl at Palms and local jam band about to make it big, Moksha is at House of Blues.

Beastie Boys ft. Santigold- “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win”

12 Jul

I can’t wait for July 19 when Spike Jonze’s video for the Beastie Boys’ “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win” featuring Santigold drops; but in the meantime here’s Major Lazer’s remix of the track off Hot Sauce Committee Part Two.

Brett Dennen – Las Vegas – TONIGHT!

23 Jun

After a couple months of anticipation I am excited that Brett Dennen rolls into Las Vegas tonight and takes the stage over at the Silverton.  I’ve seen Brett Dennen perform a handful of times but never as the headliner so definitely interested to see how he stretches the set from the usual opener time of 45 minutes.  Currently in support of his new disc Loverboy, a disc that I am addicted to, Dennen should run the gamut and blend a nice mix of old with the new .  It should be a great show and tickets are only $15 which means any music lover would be foolish to miss this.  An added bonus, DAWES is opening.

Southwest Airlines Shows Loves And Then Retracts Free Music Offer

8 Jun

Southwest Airlines has really pulled a fast one on customers this time.  The airline recently announced in honor of its 40th birthday they would be giving away a 40 song playlist for FREE.  Not even a week after announcing and launching this has Southwest pulled the promotion and only saying “We apologize, but due to popular demand the free playlist is no longer available. Check out the artists we love on iTunes below.”

This is wrong in so many ways but I mean what did they think was going to happen; people weren’t actually going to download the music because they haven’t heard of most if not all of the artists?  For many people their favorite four letter word is FREE.  Was this a deal rigged with iTunes to try and get people to purchase the songs and some sort of revenue generator?  Who really knows the truth but what a lame and pathetic job by Southwest.

Something that could have been such a positive has become a negative very quickly.  And you know what; I bet those artists would have loved for millions of people to be introduced to their music.

Looks like no cake will be served at this anniversary party.

COACHELLA 2012 To Take Place Over Two Weekends

31 May

Check this message straight from the Coachella website. WOW if they can pull this off.

We’re excited to announce Coachella 2012 will be held over TWO WEEKENDS.

In an effort to try and accommodate everyone who wants to experience the festival, COACHELLA 2012 will be two separate events, held over two consecutive weekends. We will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people.

We know many of you were unable to attend this year’s festival because passes sold out much sooner than anticipated. We were truly surprised by the overwhelming response and remain honored by your passion and enthusiasm. We also know some of you purchased through non legitimate sources and were inconvenienced, gouged or totally scammed. We hope that these changes will give everyone the opportunity to purchase directly from Coachella.com.

Passes go on sale beginning this Friday, June 3rd, 2011, at 10am PST until the following Friday June 10th, 2011, at 10pm PST. This advance sale will be the only opportunity to take advantage of the Coachella Payment Plan. Passes will be available through a payment plan of 10% down and 8 equal monthly payments OR by payment in full. The price of three-day passes remains at $269 plus fees for the sixth consecutive year.

Coachella Weekend 1 – April 13-15, 2012 | Coachella Weekend 2 – April 20-22, 2012

Bonnaroo X Schedule Released Today

13 May

Finally the Bonnaroo schedule has been released! Click HERE to take a look. As expected when the schedule came out, there are  many many conflicts and overlaps with artists and set times. Of course for me there are the staple artists that are marked as must sees (Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, Buffalo Springfield, Mumford & Sons, Gregg Allman, Robert Plant, G. Love, The Black Keys, Warren Haynes, etc.) and after that, time to figure out the rest. Who knows, my ideal schedule today may end up being completely different when I arrive. All I know is there is a ton of great music and I can’t wait to be surrounded by 90,000 of my new closest friends.
