Countdown to @LifeIsBeautiful: 5 Days – @TheKillers

20 Oct

In one week, The Killers will take the stage for the final performance of the inaugural Life is Beautiful Festival! Quite fitting, don’t you think? The hometown rockers will play for their largest Las Vegas crowd and I sure can’t wait to feel the energy and be a part of this memorable moment.

Now Playing: The Killers – “Shot At The Night”

16 Sep

How about some new music from The Killers on this Music Monday?! Give a listen to “Shot At The Night,” a collaboration between The Killers and M83′s Anthony Gonzalez. You can read more from Consequence of Sound HERE but this single is part of Direct Hits, a greatest hits album from The Killers as they celebrate their 10th anniversary.  The album is due out November 11.

Here’s hoping they perform this during their headlining set at Life is Beautiful October 26-27 in Downtown Las Vegas!

@VampireWeekend, @JanelleMonae and more added to @LifeIsBeautiful #Festival

30 Jul

At the beginning of June we released the initial lineup for Life is Beautiful; The Killers, Kings of Leon, Beck, Imagine Dragons, Pretty Lights, Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Jurassic 5 and a whole lot more.  But what we also promised was more artists would be announced and thus here we are.  Today we announced the additions of Vampire Weekend, Alabama Shakes, Janelle Monae, Cults, Joey Bada$$, Smith Westerns, Nico Vega, The Dig, Dreamers as well as the first details of a collaboration with Red Bull Sound Select to feature artists Wildcat! Wildcat!, Chancellor Warhol, The Kingston Springs, Children of the Night and Tink.   If you haven’t yet checked out the brand new Red Bull Sound Select, you need to get on that like yesterday. So many great artists and an incredible platform for them to blossom through.  As for Life is Beautiful, I hope y’all like the lineup and that I will see you October 26-27 in Downtown Las Vegas for an incredible two days!  More details to come (soon) but in the meantime, how about a little dance party to get this Tuesday going from Ms. Janelle Monae.

Five For Friday: Prince, Lollapalooza, Neon Reverb, American Eagle x Wild Cub and more

22 Mar

TGIF, March Madness edition only because MUSE’s “Madness” is the official song for the NCAA coverage of the basketball pandemonium.

  1. Did you see that Prince is going on tour?  Dropped in the evening a couple nights ago, dates appeared and if you live in Las Vegas, get set for four show opportunities (early and late show each night) April 26-27 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel.
  2. The Chicago Tribune leaked out a handful of acts/headliners for Lollapalooza this summer which includes Mumford & Sons, The Killers, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, The Postal Service and The National.
  3. Neon Reverb is going on this weekend in Las Vegas!  Make sure to check out the schedule and head to Beauty Bar and The Bunkhouse for some awesome music.
  4. Shout out to American Eagle for using Wild Cub’s “Thunder Clatter” in their new video.  Those fellas are about to blow up!  Stoked for that to happen.
  5. Excited for Record Store Day?  You should be.  Check out all these releases that are coming on 4/20.

Five For Friday: NYE, The Black Crowes, Top 21 Songs of 2012

28 Dec

Well here we go, the final Friday in 2012!

  1. NYE Weekend in Las Vegas is always crazy but this year it is filled with an incredible line-up of music both in nightclubs and concert halls. Tonight it’s all about The Killers performing at The Cosmopolitan for me. Tomorrow, I’ll double-down on them. Sunday I’m heading to see The Black Keys – I’ve seen them in front of 400 people, 80,000 people and everything in between and the duo have yet to disappoint. Not a bad way to end the year with a few stellar shows.
  2. The Black Crowes announced a return from hiatus and will head out on tour next year!! And with that sadly comes the departure of lead guitarist Luther Dickinson but in his place comes the incredibly talented Jackie Greene who Chris Robinson had been touring with along with Bob Weir.
  3. Get ready for Festival line-up announcements which should start coming out in early January (Coachella) and February (Bonnaroo).
  4. Check out some of my music favorites from 2012 HERE.
  5. Lastly, I know there are a ton of Top XYZ lists on best albums, songs, newcomers, reissues, etc. so while there are just too many out there for me to list, here are 21 songs (hey that’s blackjack where I’m from) that I feel either a) defined the year in music or b) flew under the radar from the masses. In no particular order:
  • Fun. – “Some Nights”
  • The Lumineers – “Ho Hey”
  • Of Monsters and Men – “Little Talks”
  • Baywood – “I Can Breathe Again”
  • Hospitality – “It’s Too Late”
  • Wild Cub – “Thunder Clatter”
  • Mumford & Sons – “I Will Wait”
  • Chvrches – “The Mother We Share”
  • Night Terrors of 1927 – “Dust and Bones”
  • The Mowgli’s – “San Francisco”
  • Frank Ocean – “Thinkin Bout You”
  • San Cisco – “Awkward”
  • Family of the Year – “The Stairs”
  • Japandroids – “The House That Heaven Built”
  • Kendrick Lamar – “Swimming Pools”
  • Ghost Beach – “Miracle”
  • Gorillaz ft. Andree 300 and James Murphy – “DoYaThing”
  • Passion Pit – “I’ll Be Alright”
  • Haim – “Forever”
  • Alabama Shakes – “Hold On”
  • Lord Huron – “Time To Run”
