This morning Outside Lands released their lineup for the festival taking place at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, August 10-12.

Not a bad lineup at all with Stevie Wonder, Metallica and NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE (how can you not be stoked about this?!).  Plus Dispatch, Of Monsters and Men, Sigur Ros, The Kills, Bloc Party, Die Antwoord, Alabama Shakes, White Denim, Allen Stone, Electric Guest and Michael Kiwanuka; going to be a solid three days in SF.

Lollapalooza 2012 Lineup is here!

11 Apr

It should be one hot, fun weekend in Chicago for Lollapalooza.  Late last night the much-anticipated lineup for Lollapalooza 2012 was released and C3 Presents and Perry Farrell definitely did not disappoint.  The headliners were pretty much shoe-ins with the exception of Black Sabbath and At The Drive-In (talk about reunion acts) two bands I can’t say anyone really expected.  RHCP, The Black Keys, Jack White, Florence + The Machine are all doing their fair share of festival headlining this summer. Add Justice and Avicii to that list and it is going to be a heck of a good time.

I was really excited to see Sigur Ros, Miike Snow, Die Antwoord, Alabama Shakes, The Weeknd, Passion Pit, Franz Ferdinand, Of Monsters And Men, The Temper Trap, Aloe Blacc, Trampled by Turtles, Toro y Moi, The Head & The Heart, The Big Pink, JJ Grey & Mofro, Gary Clark Jr. , The Gaslight Anthem, Dawes, Bloc Party, Passion Pit, Madeon all getting great billing for the festival.

But even more thrilling was seeing some really awesome smaller acts tabbed to play; like First Aid Kit, Bombay Bicycle Club, GIVERS, Michael Kiwanuka, The Growlers, Hey Rossetta!, JEFF The Brotherhood, The Jezabels, Moon Taxi, Chancellor Warhol, The War On Drugs.

Also I have to say I love the logo used on the lineup poster, YEAR OF THE DRAGON.

See you August 3-5 at Grant Park in Chicago.

WOW. Ok when I think of Delaware I usually think of Capriotti’s, Blue Hens and the first state to ratify the US constitution but certainly not music (but did you know Bob Marley once lived there?!) until now courtesy of the Firefly Music Festival.  JUST ANNOUNCED and set to rock July 20-22 at the Woodlands of Dover International Speedway, this music festival is coming in hot with plenty of fire power.  Headliners include The Killers, The Black Keys and Jack White! Countdown to Bonnaroo: 19 Days – Artist of the Day: Chiddy Bang

21 May

What’s not to love about Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege and Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin, the duo who make up the hip-hop group Chiddy Bang.  I like many first heard of these guys from their song “Opposite of Adults” which sampled MGMT song “Kids” and pushed them to stardom.  Having also sampled Radiohead, Tinie Tempah, Sufjan Stevens and Passion Pit into their repertoire, be on the look-out for a full length album very soon.  Bonnaroo be ready, these boys are coming to give a spark to Saturday afternoon.

TONIGHT: Passion Pit – House of Blues Las Vegas

9 Dec

Stoked for tonight’s Passion Pit show at House of Blues Las Vegas now I just have to hope the next seven hours go by fast until they hit the stage.  Luckily Mister Heavenly is one of the opening acts and I’m excited to check them out, really digging what I’ve heard thus far.  Pepper Rabbit and We Barbarians are also performing tonight.

Viva Las Vegas – A Plethora Of Live Music This Week

6 Dec

It’s only Monday and I’m really excited about the music week ahead in Las Vegas.  One of my favorite bands of all time, The Black Crowes, is returning to Las Vegas on Friday evening to play The Joint.  I’ve seen the fellas more than a handful of times live and this one is going to be bittersweet as it’s also part of their farewell tour.  More than anything I’m thrilled about going to a real rock and roll concert filled with two sets of damn good music. This is also a show that I know I’ll be getting there for the opening act as Truth & Salvage Co. will be gracing the stage and they are definitely a band you want to be listening to.

While The Black Crowes are my top music priority for the week in Las Vegas, Passion Pit plays the House of Blues, Temper Trap invades the Hard Rock Café on The Strip and Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds return to Planet Hollywood for two nights of acoustic euphoria. The only damper on the insane week of live music is scheduling and knowing shows overlap and I won’t get to all of them.

Here’s one of my favorite Crowes songs.  Going to miss seeing these guys live.

New Music: Levi’s Pioneer Sessions

25 Aug

Throughout the summer Levi’s has been rolling out a “Pioneer Sessions” campaign and releasing classic tracks recorded by some of today’s most well regarded and hottest artists.  A few of the tracks that really standout to me are: Raphael Saadiq’s cover of The Spinners’ “It’s A Shame,” Passion Pit’s cover of the Smashing Pumpkin’s “Tonight, Tonight,” and John Legend & The Roots’ rendition of Ernie Hines’ “Our Generation.”

Check out www.levispioneersessions.com to download the whole series which also includes tracks by Ryan Bingham, The Dirty Projectors, The Swell Season, She & Him, Nas, Colbie Caillat, The Shins, Jason Mraz, The Kills and Bomba Estereo.
