22 May

Here’s a complete video of “Dearly Departed” from last night’s Shakey Graves show at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. Killer show, great energy and fun crowd. Shout out to my buddy Max for lighting up this show (that disco ball/moonshine number!), it was fun one!

Now Playing: Jungle cover Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars -“Uptown Funk”

10 Mar

Click play below and check out Jungle’s rendition of Mark Ronson’sUptown Funk” ft. Bruno Mars from BBC Radio 1 earlier today. Jungle live is one of the more fun shows I can remember seeing in the last year and if you read the blog you know how big of a Mark Ronson fan I am. This version I can dig and I hope they start performing this on tour.

New Video: @ImagineDragons – “I Bet My Life”

12 Dec

Brand new video released today by Imagine Dragons for their new single “I Bet My Life.” Caught these guys in concert last night at X 107.5 Holiday Havoc and as always, the guys delivered a massive show. It’s always amazing to see the hometown band just crush it on stage here in the neon desert and never shy away from professing their love of Las Vegas!

Countdown to Life is Beautiful: Panic! At The Disco

15 Sep

Here we go, the home stretch towards the second Life is Beautiful festival in Downtown Las Vegas, October 24-26. In anticipation, each day at DoYouHearTheMusic.com I’ll be running down an artist or two on the lineup! If you haven’t gotten your tickets, do so at www.lifeisbeautiful.com and if you have, awesome and I can’t wait to see you!

We’ll kick things off with Vegas’ own PANIC! AT THE DISCO. Not only have these kids been kicking ass on tour this summer, they’re returning home to play their biggest Vegas gig ever. It should be quite the spectacle and we can all hope that they pull off their amazing cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

R.I.P. Johnny Winter

17 Jul

I was saddened to hear about the passing of legendary blues guitarist Johnny Winter. Yet another amazing and talented musician who has left us this year. Personally I’m thankful that a spontaneous last minute trip to Jazz Fest this past May provided me the opportunity to hit the late night (and what became legendary) Gov’t Mule and Special Guests show at the Saenger Theatre where Johnny Winter sat in for a few songs.  In what would become one of his final live performances, that was special regardless but now it has a whole new memory for me.

Check out this photo of Warren Haynes and Johnny Winter from Dino Perrucci Photography which amazingly captures that special moment on the evening of May 2, 2014.

REVISITED: O.A.R. | 4.24.14 | Brooklyn Bowl | Night 1

25 Apr

Damn did it feel good to see O.A.R. live once again. While I have lost count of how many O.A.R. shows I’ve seen over the years, I do know that it has been a couple years since I last got a chance to see them live. Night one of a three night extended stay at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas instantly put me back in that happy place and made me feel right at home. With good friends all around me it was a perfect evening and I for one can’t wait for the next two nights of shows.

Hey Vegas, YOU + ME @ Brooklyn Bowl the next three nights for O.A.R.

24 Apr

Okay Vegas, anyone who was in high school or college circa 1999 should be joining me at Brooklyn Bowl the next three nights as O.A.R. comes to town for a stopover!

C’mon be honest with yourself, you know you’ve spent plenty of college nights and fraternity/sorority parties rocking out to “That Was A Crazy Game of Poker,” “Hey Girl,” “City On Down,” and if you’re a little younger chances are you’ve grown up with “Shattered,” “This Town,” “Heaven” and now their new single, “Peace.”

Regardless of anything I’ve said above if you’re into music, the next three nights are simply ones you won’t want to miss.  Perhaps I’m biased but a live O.A.R. show is an event and more importantly a damn good time.  So come on, drive yourself over to the Linq, marvel at the High Roller, stroll up to Brooklyn Bowl and come see some killer music in one of the best live music settings.  Oh and if you think it’s going to be a late one, shows are at 7:30, you have no excuse.

Now back to the music…….

Video: Phil & Friends | “Franklin’s Tower” | 4.20.14 | Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas

23 Apr

Last weekend was one for the ages as Phil Lesh descended upon Las Vegas and played three nights at the brand new Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas with an all-star lineup which included Jackie Greene, John Scofield, John Medeski, Stu Allen and Joe Russo.  How’s that for a powerhouse lineup?!  And boy did it live up to the billing.  It was definitely an honor to watch these guys on stage and the chemistry was just ON.

Here’s a video of “Franklin’s Tower” from night three of the run.  Apologies in advance as it’s only four minutes since I wasn’t prepared for them to play one of my favorite Dead songs and I cut it short because frankly, my arm was tired.  Regardless, I think you’ll enjoy it!

And since today is a great day, I’ll do you one better. You can click the links below to download all three shows from Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas!
