Five For Friday: @LIB_Festival, Wiz Khalifa, 50 Cent, The Heist, Tyler Bryant

16 Nov

Wow, what a crazy week in the best way possible!  This week’s Five For Friday is extra special.

  1. Earlier this week we announced the Life Is Beautiful Festival which will be coming to Downtown Las Vegas in fall of 2013.  Aurelian Marketing Group, Another Planet Entertainment (Outside Lands and Treasure Island music festivals), Downtown Project and MAKTUB Marketing.  I’m beyond excited about this and can’t wait to share this experience with everyone! Stay tuned for more info!
  2. Wiz Khalifa, caught his concert at Thomas & Mack Arena last evening.  Wiz is easily one of my favorite hip-hop acts today and this being the third time I’ve seen him live, he’s come a long way in terms of his over performance.  For 90 minutes it was nonstop Wiz and he kept the crowd engaged the entire time while even breaking out some new tunes off the new album due out December 4.  And of course the show was complete with guest spots but his opening acts Juicy J, Chevy Woods, Lola Monroe and more including a very special guest, 50 Cent!
  3. Speaking of 50 Cent, he made the sports section here in the LVRJ today as he applied for a boxing promoters license in Nevada.  Look out for his first promoted event out here in December if all goes well.
  4. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – if you haven’t listened to The Heist yet, what are you waiting for!  Get on it now.  Special guest spots from Schoolboy Q and Allen Stone among others.
  5. Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown, still can’t get this kid’s guitar skills out of my head.  Check it out, you’ll thank me.

Five For Friday: Slightly Stoopid on Daytrotter, Dispatch, Rolling Stones, New Music and RIP Chris Lighty

31 Aug

Labor Day Weekend has arrived and for me it is lining up to be a music filled one and without having to leave Las Vegas!  But since it’s Friday, time for five nuggets of music news that grabbed my attention.  Enjoy the holiday weekend and be safe.

  1. Head over to Daytrotter.com, one of today’s download sessions is none other than Slightly Stoopid!  Super excited about this one and to see them with 311 on Saturday night.
  2. If you haven’t already, get your hands on Circles Around the Sun, the first studio album from Dispatch in over a decade.
  3. I officially have a date with music history.  When I’m not sure and tickets I’ll have to get somehow as the Rolling Stones have announced they’ll play two shows before the end of 2012 at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center (where the Brooklyn Nets will play).  Check out the item from Rolling Stone HERE.
  4. September is a ridiculous month for new albums and next week brings fresh music from Two Door Cinema Club (Beacon), Two Gallants (The Bloom And The Blight), Imagine Dragons (Night Visions), Elbow (Dead In The Boot), Matchbox Twenty (North), The Fresh & Onlys (Long Slow Dance), The Vaccines (The Vaccines Come of Age) and Animal Collective (Centipede Hz) as well as a heap of others.
  5. RIP Chris Lighty
