Thank you, Justin Timberlake. Thank you because now mainstream America know’s who CHRIS STAPLETON is thanks to the duo’s “Tennessee Whiskey” x “Drink You Away” collab last night at the CMA Awards. Stapleton who’s written songs for everyone from George Strait to Adele and everyone in between is a big deal in the country/Americana music scene as you can imagine and earlier this year easily put out one of the best albums in 2015, Traveler, and it’s his first! Stapleton is one of the most gifted songwriters today and his voice is truly one of a kind in the gritty, soulful, calming way. Enjoy!
Thank you, Justin Timberlake for letting America in on Chris Stapleton

New Music: Zac Brown Band – “Homegrown”
12 JanMusic Monday brings us a nice little gem as the Zac Brown Band have dropped “Homegrown,” the first track off the upcoming album due out this spring.
Also you’ll want to click HERE to read an interesting article from Rolling Stone Country about the album and new record label which includes this nugget of info: “this upcoming LP will be the first project released by the lead singer’s own Southern Ground Artists in partnership with three other labels: Big Machine Label Group, John Varvatos Records and Republic Records.” Fun stuff ahead for ZBB!

Now Playing: Avicii – “Wake Me Up” ft. Aloe Blacc
17 JunIf you haven’t had a chance to listen to this just yet, do it now! I totally dig this, Avicii gone country (yes those who went to Ultra it wasn’t a joke). Give a listen to “Wake Me Up” which features the soulful Aloe Blacc. This is going to crossover so many different radio formats; I’d so love to see this hit number one on multiple ones.
And if you haven’t spent time listening to Aloe Blacc, sure get over to itunes, Spotify, to get his music and go see one of his shows; you owe it to yourself. Trust me.

Countdown to Bonnaroo: 16 Days – Artist of the Day: Caitlin Rose
21 MayOne, I was completely enamored the first time I listened to Caitlin Rose and two, I will be the first to tell you I don’t listen to country music often. And yet, I find myself excited to check out her performance on Friday afternoon at Bonnaroo. The Nashville artist has and very soothing voice and easy going sound that is contagious. Plus every time I listen “Shanghai Cigarettes” I swear I hear the female version of Ryan Bingham. Maybe it’s just me but now I’m just imagining what it might be like to hear these two artists collaborate together.

Now Playing: Alabama Shakes
16 NovThe train is coming and you better hop on board before you miss this group, the Alabama Shakes. Currently their four-song EP is available and it’s one you should definitely add to your collection. If you like multiple genres rolled into one (R&B, Soul, Rock, etc.), you’ll be a fan of this rising band. Plus I can’t get enough of Brittany Howard’s voice; she has soul running through her and an old school feel reminiscent of some female vocalists from the 60s. The only sad thing is I don’t know when I’ll have a chance to see them live. Here’s hoping for a trip out west, Las Vegas would be nice!
On a random note, it may be just me but the opening chords on “Hold On” have me thinking it’s a take on CCR’s “Down on the Corner.” I could be way off but that’s what I hear.

Countdown to Bonnaroo: 16 Days – Artist of the Day: Gregg Allman
24 MayI am fortunate that at a young age I was introduced to the Allman Brothers Band and haven’t looked back since. When I think of some of my favorite songs to this day, I have Gregg Allman to thank. Luckily I’ve had the opportunity to see not just the Allman Brothers Band but also Allman solo and what live shows they have been. With the lingering health concerns for Allman I am going to relish the opportunity to see him once again and what better stage than Bonnaroo.

Countdown to Bonnaroo: 22 Days – Artist of the Day: Amos Lee
18 MayI still can’t believe I haven’t had the chance to see Amos Lee perform live, that is until a little more than three weeks from now. The Philly singer-songwriter brings it all to the table, a little folk, soul, country and R&B to project a magical sound that is soothing and relaxing. Currently supporting the release of his fourth album, Mission Bell, released earlier this year, Amos Lee continues to get better and better.
Two shows at Bonnaroo

Countdown to Bonnaroo: 25 Days – Artist of the Day: Ryan Bingham
15 MayTo most, Ryan Bingham is known as the Oscar winning recording artist for his song “The Weary Kind” in the Jeff Bridges movie, Crazy Heart. Really this is just the icing on the cake because his works before are even better and hopefully the rise in popularity gave people a chance to give a listen. With a raspy voice and one heck of a band in The Dead Horses, Bingham is a nice slice of Americana that you can’t get enough of. I got hooked on his album Roadhouse Sun but it was his disc Mescalito that really made me a huge fan.
Definitely can’t miss next month at Bonnaroo.
Scheduled to perform: SUNDAY 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM – THAT TENT

Video: Zac Brown & James Taylor – “Colder Weather”
5 AprI know I’m late on this but since I didn’t watch the ACM Awards I just got around to watching the Zac Brown/James Taylor performance of “Colder Weather” into “Sweet Baby James.” Great duet and definitely worth watching if you haven’t caught it yet either.
