Back in October 2010 I posted about the pop-rock UK duo of producer TommyD and singer-songwriter Jamie Scott who together make up Graffiti6 and tonight they descend upon Las Vegas to perform at Book & Stage at Cosmopolitan. To say I’m stoked in an understatement and if you are in Vegas I highly recommend you make your way over at 10 p.m. tonight.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to check out San Diego based Little Hurricane at Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan. In the fairly short amount of time I had listened to their music prior I was impressed but after seeing CC and Tone live, I’m now a huge fan. Their sound of dirty blues/rock just works and I can’t picture the music with more than just the duo on stage. Between Tone’s raw voice and skills on the slide guitar and CC providing solid beats (and also easy on the eyes), Little Hurricane are a force to be reckoned with. Big things are in their future, get onboard now; pick up their album Homewrecker while you’re at it and see them live. Follow @doyouheartmusic
Today is a special day and not just because it is Bob Dylan’s 70th birthday. Today Foster The People officially released their debut album, TORCHES. Before I go on, please get this album because I promise you won’t be disappointed.
From beginning to end this disc is simply, awesome. While “Helena Beat,” “Pumped Up Kicks” and “Houdini” are the only tracks many have heard, would you believe it if I told you none of those are the best songs on the CD? While I do indeed love those songs, “Call It What You Want,” “Miss You” and “Warrant” could all be considered the top track.
I compare TORCHES to Maroon 5’s Songs About Jane for the simple fact that I can’t recall a debut album having so much potential for hit after hit since.
Also I’ve been fortunate enough to see these guys four times already and if you can somehow swindle your way into one of their shows (just about every date is sold out), you’ll really see what these fellas are made of; talented musicians on the rise.
Check out their performance of “Helena Beat” on Jimmy Kimmel last night.
Check out my most recent concert review of Mumford & Sons from April 15 at the Boulevard Pool at Cosmopolitan. You can also click HERE to for the setlist and images.
Recently I was presented with an amazing opportunity and was asked to write a feature on Live Music Venues in Las Vegas for 944 Magazine. Below is the four page story which ran in the April issue, highlighting five of the top venues in town as well as a side bar with a handful of other places to check out live music. If you want to view the digital version, click HERE and go to page 76.

Big thank you to everyone for the support of my blog because without it, I wouldn’t have had the chance to turn my hobby into something more and end up writing a feature story for a magazine.
What a weekend for live music it was in Las Vegas. So many great bands and DJs in town stopping through before hitting Coachella that it almost felt like Coachella East as there was an electricity all weekend. On Thursday, seeing Jenny & Johnny perform at the Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan was just awesome and a great way to kick things off. Caught a couple minutes of Chairlift’s set after but wasn’t too impressed. Friday night was bananas at Mumford & Sons rocked the Boulevard pool (when the weather is perfect I don’t know if there is a better place in Las Vegas to see a show); Tallest Man On Earth was a great opener as well. My musical weekend was wrapped up on Saturday night as Nas and Damian Marley took to the stage for what’s always a fun and energetic performance.

Last night was one heck of a show. Mumford & Sons first time ever playing Las Vegas and what a night it was! Be sure to check out the review coming out in Vegas Seven next week but until then, here’s the set list and some images courtesy of Erik Kabik.
Beyond excited to see Mumford & Sons tonight in Las Vegas over at the Cosmopolitan! To kick off an all M&S music day, here’s a new song, “Lovers Eyes” the quartet performed in New York a couple nights ago as part of iHeartRadio Live, a Clear Channel entertainment production that features private performances and interviews with today’s top recording artists. Thanks to Paste for the tip.
Marina and the Diamonds were the latest to take their act to Book & Stage in Las Vegas. Here are some images I snapped from the show on April 8. Not exactly the best photos I’ve ever taken but it was a little tough to capture Marina as she was a ball of energy jumping around nonstop. Besides having what seemed to be an unlimited tank of energy, she has an incredible voice and is a heck of a performer. If you have the chance to see her live, don’t miss it.
