Now Playing: San Cisco – “Run”

1 Dec

Some of my favorite Australian’s are back! Give a listen to this new track, “Run” from San Cisco. Upbeat, poppy and definitely a track to get your blood flowing after gorging over Thanksgiving. Will this be the song that breaks them in the US? I sure hope so.

Countdown to Life is Beautiful 2014: M4SONIC

2 Oct

22 days until the second Life is Beautiful festival in Downtown Las Vegas, October 24-26. In anticipation, at DoYouHearTheMusic.com I’ll be running down an artist or two on the lineup! If you haven’t gotten your tickets, do so at www.lifeisbeautiful.com and if you have, awesome and I can’t wait to see you!

It’s time to introduce you to a DJ you must see at Life is Beautiful, M4SONIC.  Hailing from Australia, M4SONIC, is a classically trained pianist, producer turned DJ who has mastered Launchpad/Ableton.  With a crazy knack for beautiful mash-ups, his YouTube videos rack up ridiculous numbers (in the millions) and now he’s taking his show on the road.  Beyond being excited for M4SONIC to drop a massive set in Vegas and thanks to the great team at Sol Republic, we thought we’d help give you a sample of what you can expect; check out this mash-up video M4SONIC made for Life is Beautiful in anticipation of his performance.

New Music: Thelma Plum – “Around Here”

3 Jul

It’s a good day for new music so why not share my latest obsession, Thelma Plum.  Personally I think you’re going to fall in love with her sweet and soulful sound, just like I did.  The 18 year old is the latest gem to blossom out of Australia and I suggest you give a listen to her EP, Rosie, immediately but in the mean time, give a listen below to “Around Here.”

Countdown to Bonnaroo: 25 Days – Artist of the Day: The Temper Trap

12 May

If you read my blog you know my affection for bands from Australia and The Temper Trap might as well lead the pack.  Back in ’09/’10 it was all about “Fader” and “Sweet Disposition,” the latter skyrocketed the band as it got crazy club play being remixed by some top tier DJs and now the wait for new material is over as they will be fresh on the heels of dropping their sophomore effort when they perform at Bonnaroo.  I can’t wait to finally see the indie-rockers live, been wondering if I’d ever get the chance.

New Music: San Cisco

16 Jan

Feel free to do the happy dance, it is Music Monday after all! To get the week started heading in the right direction here’s yet another band from down under, San Cisco. The Australian four-piece released their first EP, Golden Revolver, last year with a second EP, Awkward, slated for release on February 7.   They fall into the trending indie-pop category but in a very good way will a playful spirit and fun loving harmonies.  If you are a fan of GROUPLOVE, Two Door Cinema Club, Vampire Weekend or The Jungle Giants, you’ll definitely be digging this rising young group from Australia.

Here’s the title track off the upcoming EP, “Awkward.”
