Another band I am really into lately has been Middle Brother. Haven’t heard of them? You need to get yourself familiar pronto. A quasi super group comprised of John J. McCauley III of Deer Tick, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit these fellas are crazy good songwriters and put together a really great disc after first performing together at SXSW in 2010. Releasing their self titled debut album last month, be on the lookout for the trio when you see any of their bands on festival billings.
Beyond excited to see Mumford & Sons tonight in Las Vegas over at the Cosmopolitan! To kick off an all M&S music day, here’s a new song, “Lovers Eyes” the quartet performed in New York a couple nights ago as part of iHeartRadio Live, a Clear Channel entertainment production that features private performances and interviews with today’s top recording artists. Thanks to Paste for the tip.
It’s no secret I am a huge fan of Foster The People so naturally if I hear something new, I’m going to share it. Check out The Highweights’ remix of “Pumped Up Kicks.”
And if you are some of the lucky ones heading to Coachella this weekend, be sure to check the guys out Sunday at 6:50 p.m. in the Gobi tent. You won’t be disappointed, I can guarantee that.
One of my favorite DJs, Wolfgang Gartner is back with a new track “Forever” featuring will.i.am. Give a listen, track officially drops on April 26.
Also what I’m really excited about and can’t believe I’ve been neglecting this for the last couple of months is Wolfgang’s track “Space Junk,” which is easily going to be one of the songs of the summer.
It’s no secret, I love and live for new music Tuesday. Today may be a monumental one as many well known artists put out highly anticipated albums. Paul Simon puts out some of his best work with So Beautiful or So What, Brett Dennen drops Loverboy with killer tracks including “Sydney (I’ll Come Running) and “Comeback Kid,” Alison Krause gets back together with Union Station to release Paper Airplane, the Foo Fighters return with Wasted Light and TV On The Radio release Nine Types Of Light. But wait, there is so much more. Jessie J’s new album Who You Are, Panda Bear – Tomboy, Atmosphere – The Family Sign, Jason Isabel and The 400 Unit – Here We Rest, The Feelies – Here Before and k.d. Lang – k.d. Lang and The Siss Boom Bang: Sing It Loud are also out today.
Cannot wait for his new album to drop next week. Give a listen to another one of the tracks, “Comeback Kid.” If you haven’t had a chance to hear “Sydney (I’ll Come Running)” check out our post from January HERE.
Hallelujah! Finally we are getting closer to the Beastie Boys new album Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2 (May 3) and here’s the first single, “Make Some Noise.” It totally sounds like old school Beastie’s and I for one already love it and can’t wait to get my hands on the disc and listen to the rest.
Yet another great new music Tuesday! Gimme Some, the latest from Swedish trio Peter, Bjorn & John dropped today and I can’t wait to give their sixth disc a full spin. Give a listen below to “Second Change,” the first single off the album. Thumbs up from me.
I’m a huge Ben Harper fan but I’m not sure how I really feel about “Rock and Roll Is Free” the first single off his forthcoming album, Give Til It’s Gone out May 17. In a return to straight up rock and roll and his first solo disc since 2005 I’m definitely looking forward to listening to the album but I think his oldies are still the goodies in this case.
This is NOT real gospel music if that’s what you are thinking. Owen Holmes of Black Kids put out an EP at the end of last year titled Duettes. The five track compilation of duets features Holmes with Camera Obscura’s Tracyanne Campbell, Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone, the Magnetic Fields’ Shirley Simms, Hefner’s Darren Hayman, and French singer-songwriter SoKo.
Check out the track Automobile featuring Holmes with Camera Obscura’s Tracyanne Campbell.
