New Music: O.A.R. – “Heaven”

7 Jun

I love new music Tuesday and today is a great one as O.A.R. release “Heaven,” the first single off their upcoming album King.  Thrilled the fellas are back with not only a great new song but their seventh studio album which drops August 2.  Check out THIS link for the making of King.

And if you find yourself in Vegas this weekend, check them out at Red Rock Casino, performing quasi-poolside.

New Music Tuesday: Foster The People – TORCHES

24 May

Today is a special day and not just because it is Bob Dylan’s 70th birthday.  Today Foster The People officially released their debut album, TORCHES. Before I go on, please get this album because I promise you won’t be disappointed.

From beginning to end this disc is simply, awesome.  While “Helena Beat,” “Pumped Up Kicks” and “Houdini” are the only tracks many have heard, would you believe it if I told you none of those are the best songs on the CD? While I do indeed love those songs, “Call It What You Want,” “Miss You” and “Warrant” could all be considered the top track.

I compare TORCHES to Maroon 5’s Songs About Jane for the simple fact that I can’t recall a debut album having so much potential for hit after hit since.

Also I’ve been fortunate enough to see these guys four times already and if you can somehow swindle your way into one of their shows (just about every date is sold out), you’ll really see what these fellas are made of; talented musicians on the rise.

Check out their performance of “Helena Beat” on Jimmy Kimmel last night.

New Music Tuesday: Paul Simon, Brett Dennen, Foo Fighters, Alison Krause, TV On The Radio and more

It’s no secret, I love and live for new music Tuesday.  Today may be a monumental one as many well known artists put out highly anticipated albums.  Paul Simon puts out some of his best work with So Beautiful or So What, Brett Dennen drops Loverboy with killer tracks including “Sydney (I’ll Come Running) and “Comeback Kid,” Alison Krause gets back together with Union Station to release Paper Airplane, the Foo Fighters return with Wasted Light and TV On The Radio release Nine Types Of Light. But wait, there is so much more.  Jessie J’s new album Who You Are, Panda BearTomboy, AtmosphereThe Family Sign, Jason Isabel and The 400 UnitHere We Rest, The FeeliesHere Before and k.d. Langk.d. Lang and The Siss Boom Bang: Sing It Loud are also out today.

New Music: Eliza Doolittle

2 Aug

Recently I discovered Eliza Doolittle and was blown away when I listed to her self-titled debut album.  She’s an English singer/songwriter and while her songs aren’t fancy by any means, she’s got a delicate voice that is perfect for summer.  The album has some pop-like tracks, some tracks that bring you back to the 50s and some that are just carefree and happy.  If you’re a fan of Natasha Bedingfield, you’ll be a fan of Eliza Doolittle. Give a listen and I think you’ll like it after one spin.

Check out her music here and the video for her latest single “Pack Up.”
