Now Playing: My Morning Jacket – “Believe (Nobody Knows)”

6 May

Yesterday was a ridiculous New Music Tuesday. We’re talking Mumford & Sons, Tallest Man on Earth, Best Coast, METZ, Mikal Cronin, Django Django, Palma Violets, Hiatus Kaiyote, Ivan & Alyosha but the one release I was most psyched about was by far My Morning Jacket and the release of The Waterfall. So pumped the guys are back with a new album, back on tour and comig to a city near you. If you’ve never been fortunate enough to catch MMJ live, change that this summer. And for you Vegas peeps, they are coming to Brooklyn Bowl for a two night stint, October 9-10!

R.I.P. Ben E. King

1 May

Sad day in music to hear that Ben E. King has passed away. Most will know him or rather his voice from his songs “Stand By Me” and “Spanish Harlem” as well as his time in The Drifters. My Father shared with me THIS great piece from the New York Times on Mr. King. Give a read, the music industry lost another legend.

Now Playing: Life in Film – “Alleyway”

Life in Film. You’re going to want to get to know this English quartet. While they’ve been a group for a handful of years, they just recently made it stateside with their contagious song “Get Closer.” And now you can also open your ears to “Alleyway” which will grow on you and have on repeat all day. Ironically their first US tour dates started last week as they lend support to The Wombats. Grab the full slew of dates HERE.

Happy Monday everyone!

Sturgill Simpson – Vegas Baby! Tomorrow night!

22 Apr

Vegas, Vegas, Vegas – don’t sleep on tomorrow night at Brooklyn Bowl. Do you like country, alt-country and Americana? Heck if you like music in general you need to join me at the Sturgill Simpson show on Thursday night. Dude put out one of the top albums in all of 2014, Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, is absolutely crushing crowds all over the country and between Coachella and Stagecoach he’s making a stop in our city. Having seen him a couple weeks ago I can attest that you will have a great time. Sturgill and his band JAM and you’ll want to be there to witness it. Oh and The Lone Bellow open so for every person who kept asking to add them to Life is Beautiful in the past, here’s your chance to see them in Vegas, you have no excuses now. Two great acts, one show! Hope to see you there!
