New Music: Glass Animals & Joey Bada$$ – “Lose Control”

FIRE!!!

Now that the festival has passed I am digging back into the internet for some new tunes and some possible artists for next year’s lineup. But, before I start posting like a wild fire, I’m even more excited for this collaboration featuring 2013 Life is Beautiful performer Joey Bada$$ and 2015 LIBers Glass Animals. I never would have seen this coming but I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised either after learning the artists had gotten together back in 2012. Fast forward a few years and voila! It’s got those funky, psychedelic beats of Glass Animals lingering at the beginning of the track but layered on top is a ferocious Joey Bada$$ with some beats that remind me of back in the day Timbaland. All I’m saying is give a listen and put on repeat.

A few years back I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing the band, JJAMZ which was composed of James Valentine (Maroon 5) Jason Boesel (Rilo Kiley/Bright Eyes), Alex Greenwald (Phantom Planet), Michael Runion, and Z Berg (The Like). Well fast forward to present, omit Valentine from the band and the remaining four renamed the group PHASES and released three new tracks this spring including the below, “I’m In Love With My Life.” #TrueStory

Perhaps a late addition to the summer soundtrack of your life?!

Leon Bridges’ Coming Home out today!

Music fans, if you buy one album this year make it Leon Bridges‘ Coming Home which is out today! The smooth and sly 25 year old has already been compared to Sam Cooke and Otis Redding with his old-school soul sound and while his studio stuff has all the chops to become album of the year, it’s his live show that will have you weak in the knees. So do two things this new music Tuesday, go buy the album and go find yourself a Leon Bridges concert to attend.
