New Music Tuesday: Imagine Dragons, Steve Earle, Elle King, José González, Phosphorescent

17 Feb

What’s not to love about New Music Tuesday?! Today brings a whole heap of new music and much to be excited about. As a Las Vegan, it’s a big day as Imagine Dragons with the release of Smoke+Mirrors, the long anticipated follow-up to Night Visions. Crazy to think of just a handful of years ago seeing them perform in front of tiny crowds and now rocking to thousands. Also out today, I’m excited about a new one from Steve Earle with the release of Terraplane, one of my latest obsessions of the last year, Elle King, releases her debut album, Love Stuff, Jose Gonzalez returns with Vestiges & Claws and a live album to snatch up, PhosphorescentLive at the Music Hall.

DoYouHearTheMusic.com – Febrary 2015 Playlist

10 Feb

New music Tuesday so why not put together a little playlist to help get you through your day and the month of February. I know I just put together my January 2015 playlist a couple weeks ago so between the two you should be good to go with some solid tunes for the full work day. This month brings new music from Alabama Shakes, Marina and The Diamonds, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Purity Ring; second and third singles from James Bay, Hozier and George Ezra; and hopefully I can introduce you to some new tunes from Twerps, Vetiver, Francisco The Man and more. Peace + Love + Music.

Now Playing: Years & Years – “King”

7 Jan

Plenty of excitement on this end for “King” the new single from Years & Years. It just premiered on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe today and you can listen below. Big things to come in 2015 for this trio.

Now Playing: Dan Deacon – “Feel The Lightning”

6 Jan

More new music I’m looking forward to in 2015: Dan Deacon. Just before the end of 2014, “Feel The Lightning” was released and will be featured on his new album, Gliss Riffer, which drops February 24. Let’s hope it’s a big big year Deacon.

Now Playing: POND – “Elvis’ Flaming Star”

5 Jan

I’m beyond stoked for the new album from POND, Man, It Feels Like Space Again to be released later this month. Not familiar with this band from Down Under? Here’s a few reasons why you should make yourself:

  1. It consists of Jay Watson of Tame Impala and former Tame Impala touring member Nick Allbrook
  2. Kevin Parker aka Tame Impala played drums on one of POND’s albums
  3. You probably guessed it, their sound is psychedelic rock

So basically if you dig Tame Impala, you’re going to be loving POND.

Now on to the music. Give a listen to “Elvis’ Flaming Star” the lead single off the upcoming album. Hope you enjoy!
