#MusicMonday: Sleeper Agent – “Get Burned”

16 Apr

Good morning……music fans!  Music Monday and let’s get the week started off with a little Sleeper Agent.  If you aren’t familiar with these kids from Kentucky, you need to be.  They released their debut album, Celabrasion, last fall and are rising fast.  They just played Coachella last weekend, are making an appearance at the Hangout Music Festival next month, and are on a little tour right now with Ben Kweller.  So if you haven’t, give a listen to their peppy, rock sound and be on the lookout for this band in a city near you.

Revisited: The Shins | Blvd Pool at The Cosmopolitan | 4 13 12 | PHOTOS

14 Apr

No need to head to Coachella if you live in Las Vegas as plenty of the musicians have/are making pit stops in the neon desert. Last night it was cold and wet after an afternoon turned evening of rain but the show still went on as The Shins kicked off their 2012 U.S. tour outdoors at The Cosmopolitan’s Blvd. Pool.

Big thanks to Erik Kabik (www.erikkabik.com) for the photos from last evening.

More Bonnaroo Artist Additions!

11 Apr

Hell yeah, stoked to see Michael Kiwanuka (AMAZING talent that is going to be a household name in the States after the festival circuit this summer) and Rodrigo y Gabriela among the little wave of artists just announced by Bonnaroo.  Below is the official post from the festival website.

A few more artists have been added to the Bonnaroo 2012 lineup. We are particularly psyched that the 13-piece C.U.B.A orchestra will join Rodrigo y Gabriela for a rare performance on the main stage. The schedule will be announced in the coming weeks, stay tuned for more info!

Rodrigo y Gabriela and C.U.B.A
Sam Bush Band
Michael Kiwanuka
Black Box Revelation

We have a few more artists to be announced, including the winners of the Sonicbids Road to Roo contest going on now. Vote by April 16th to put your favorite bands on this year’s lineup and be entered for a chance to win VIP tickets!

Lollapalooza 2012 Lineup is here!

11 Apr

It should be one hot, fun weekend in Chicago for Lollapalooza.  Late last night the much-anticipated lineup for Lollapalooza 2012 was released and C3 Presents and Perry Farrell definitely did not disappoint.  The headliners were pretty much shoe-ins with the exception of Black Sabbath and At The Drive-In (talk about reunion acts) two bands I can’t say anyone really expected.  RHCP, The Black Keys, Jack White, Florence + The Machine are all doing their fair share of festival headlining this summer. Add Justice and Avicii to that list and it is going to be a heck of a good time.

I was really excited to see Sigur Ros, Miike Snow, Die Antwoord, Alabama Shakes, The Weeknd, Passion Pit, Franz Ferdinand, Of Monsters And Men, The Temper Trap, Aloe Blacc, Trampled by Turtles, Toro y Moi, The Head & The Heart, The Big Pink, JJ Grey & Mofro, Gary Clark Jr. , The Gaslight Anthem, Dawes, Bloc Party, Passion Pit, Madeon all getting great billing for the festival.

But even more thrilling was seeing some really awesome smaller acts tabbed to play; like First Aid Kit, Bombay Bicycle Club, GIVERS, Michael Kiwanuka, The Growlers, Hey Rossetta!, JEFF The Brotherhood, The Jezabels, Moon Taxi, Chancellor Warhol, The War On Drugs.

Also I have to say I love the logo used on the lineup poster, YEAR OF THE DRAGON.

See you August 3-5 at Grant Park in Chicago.

New Music: Alabama Shakes – Boys & Girls

9 Apr

Every music fan should be excited this week as the Alabama Shakes release their debut album, Boys & Girls (available for iTunes download now).  From the first moment I heard Brittany Howard’s voice I was infatuated and just loved her band’s sound.  To me, Alabama Shakes are a throwback to an era when the best music was being made and creativity was at an all time high.  Do yourself a favor, get this album, crank it up and just listen.  This is what rock and roll is!

They are the up-and-comers with the biggest buzz right now (I told you to hop on the train last November) and if you have the opportunity to catch them live this summer, do not miss out (I’m getting mine finally, at Bonnaroo).

Now Playing: Zach Deputy – “Sweet Renee”

6 Apr

It’s not a new song but I just love it and since it’s Friday, we need to get the day started off on the right foot.  Here’s a little Zach Deputy and “Sweet Renee.”  TGIF!

Just FYI there is a long (and good intro) but if you want to fast forward, head to the 4 minute mark.

New Music: Foster The People, Kimbra, A-Trak – “Warrior”

5 Apr

Top of the morning and here’s a new track for you to be hitting repeat on all day, “Warrior” featuring Mark Foster of Foster The People, rising songstress Kimbra and DJ/producer genius A-Trak.  This collaboration is the latest from Converse’s three artists, one song series.  The video is pretty cool too so don’t just listen, watch. Added bonus, the song is available as a free download by clicking here.

You may recall a Converse collaboration earlier this year “DoYaThing” featuring Gorillaz, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and Andre 3000 of Outkast.  Two more previous installations included “All Summer,” featuring Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, Kid Cudi and Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend and “I’m A Goner” featuring Matt and Kim, Soulja Boy and Andrew W.K.
