Another band I’m really jamming to these past few weeks is Gringo Star. The Atlanta quartet are back with their sophomore effort, Count Yer Lucky Stars, which was released last month. It may take you a couple listens of the album to get into these guys but you should find a little bit of southern rock n roll-psychedelic tunes perfect to get you through the day. Here’s what I think is one of the top tracks off the album, “Light in the Sky.”
As the songwriter of “Light in the Sky”, I’d like to stress that the recorded version is such a better representation of the song. This acoustic version doesn’t do the song justice. Doing these thrown together acoustic performances for college radio and blogs are just part of the job, and they’re good as far as connecting with people, but leave much to be desired when it comes to quality. We spent lots of money and worked with Ben Allen as a producer on the album to get as good a quality of recording as possible. The version on the record is a fully realized work. Thanks, Pete
Rock on Pete. Thanks for the comment and insight. Do you have a soundcloud version you can share? At the time of posting that was the only recording I could find. Believe me, I’m with you wholeheartedly and have been listening to the recorded version. Much appreciate the time taken to comment and hopefully you make it out to Las Vegas or somewhere close so I can check out a live show.
