Cee Lo – “Bright Lights, Bigger City”

9 Nov

I’m addicted to Cee Lo’s song “Bright Lights, Bigger City” off his new record The Lady Killer.  And even more, I think the lyrics sum up the past six years I’ve spent living in Sin City and the nightlife adventures.

Daft Punk – TRON – “Derezzed”

9 Nov

I’m like a lot people, stoked for the Daft Punk TRON: LEGACY soundtrack to come out on December 7. Just seeing the quick clip featuring the track “Derezzed” has me wanting more NOW. December 7 can’t come soon enough.

And check this out for a little more of a preview courtesy of BBC Radio 1.

Reel Big Fish & Goldfinger – 11 7 10 – House of Blues – Las Vegas

So last night I went to see Reel Big Fish and Goldfinger. Yes that is not a typo, a group of us decided to relive our youth.  And you know what, it was worth the $31 (we all got a good laugh remembering how it use to cost like $8 to see these guys).

Goldfinger put on one heck of a performance and even had Branden Steineckert from Rancid sitting in on drums. Really though I was excited for Reel Big Fish and the first song out of the shoot, “Sellout.” I thought how awesome that the band plays the song their probably most recognized for first!  That definitely set the tone for their performance and as the show went on I started to remember a whole bunch of the songs that I have not heard in easily a decade.  Closing with “Beer” was pretty much a given and definitely had the crowd still rip-roaring ready to rock out and leave on a high note.  Overall it was a far better show than I was expecting and beat spending a Sunday night on the couch.

Matt White – “Love” and the McRib?!

5 Nov

I got a good laugh this morning when I heard Matt White’s “Love” on the TV and turned to see it was a McDonald’s commercial for the McRib.  Even more so, learned that this commercial first ran in 2008!  I guess if it aint broke, don’t fix it and given that the McRib comes and goes, why not do the same with the commercial.  I wonder how much in royalty he gets for this one.  Either way, it’s a pretty creative spot.  Check it out.

New Music: James Blunt – “Stay the Night”

3 Nov

Just heard James Blunt’s new single “Stay the Night” for the first time and I’m going to say he’s got another hit on his hands.  The song is an upbeat folk-rock track off his forthcoming album Some Kind of Trouble due out in the States in January but in the UK next week.  I know, I’m slightly confused by the release dates but if you go to his website you can pre-order the album and have it shipped next week.
