Well that didn’t take too long, Liam Gallagher and a few members of Oasis (aka all but Noel Gallagher) are back as Beady Eye. Thanks to New York Magazine for the tip on “Bring the Light” the first tune from the new rock band. Not overly convinced just yet but it’s catchy and some good clean rock and roll. You can download the track for FREE on their website here. Two cool things to note about Beady Eye, Jeff Wootton from Gorillaz sits in on bass and the full length studio album is being produced by music wonder Steve Lillywhite! So yeah, I’m excited and can’t wait to hear more.
New Music: Fitz & The Tantrums
11 NovWhile I love discovering new music and find new bands each week, every once in a while I get completely enamored with a band the instant I hear them (like Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears) and the latest is Fitz & The Tantrums. I’m fumbling over words in sheer excitement; I just love their sound which is a mix of soul and indie pop. Their LP Picken’ Up The Pieces is an amazing one from beginning to end and will most definitely be on heavy rotation for me. Oh and a cool little fact to their rise in the music industry, Adam Levine of Maroon 5 was in a tattoo parlor in NYC and heard the EP; he then invited them on tour. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.
New Music: Adam Kesher
10 NovWho’s going to be the next French band to follow in Phoenix’s footsteps of worldwide stardom? Adam Kesher, that’s who (well I sure hope so). The quintuplet, yes it’s not just one guy, is legit and definitely a name you should remember. Their sophomore effort, Challenging Nature is full of energy spanning rock, electro, funk and was produced by Chromeo’s Dave One with some added star power from A-Trak and Philippe Zdar of Cassius. Still not convinced? Check out the single below, “Gravy Train” to get a taste of what you’ll want to be listening to.

Reel Big Fish & Goldfinger – 11 7 10 – House of Blues – Las Vegas
8 NovSo last night I went to see Reel Big Fish and Goldfinger. Yes that is not a typo, a group of us decided to relive our youth. And you know what, it was worth the $31 (we all got a good laugh remembering how it use to cost like $8 to see these guys).
Goldfinger put on one heck of a performance and even had Branden Steineckert from Rancid sitting in on drums. Really though I was excited for Reel Big Fish and the first song out of the shoot, “Sellout.” I thought how awesome that the band plays the song their probably most recognized for first! That definitely set the tone for their performance and as the show went on I started to remember a whole bunch of the songs that I have not heard in easily a decade. Closing with “Beer” was pretty much a given and definitely had the crowd still rip-roaring ready to rock out and leave on a high note. Overall it was a far better show than I was expecting and beat spending a Sunday night on the couch.
Robyn – “Indestructible” Laidback Luke Remix
7 NovI can’t get enough of this track, Laidback Luke thank you for yet another amazing track! If you haven’t heard the remix of “Indestructible” by Robyn, YOU MUST DO IT NOW.
Matt White – “Love” and the McRib?!
5 NovI got a good laugh this morning when I heard Matt White’s “Love” on the TV and turned to see it was a McDonald’s commercial for the McRib. Even more so, learned that this commercial first ran in 2008! I guess if it aint broke, don’t fix it and given that the McRib comes and goes, why not do the same with the commercial. I wonder how much in royalty he gets for this one. Either way, it’s a pretty creative spot. Check it out.
New Video: John Butler Trio – “Don’t Wanna See Your Face”
3 NovAn exciting day as one of my favorite bands, John Butler Trio, released their new music video for “Don’t Wanna See Your Face” off the album April Uprising. Check out the video below and if you don’t have April Uprising, it is a must have in your music collection.
New Music: James Blunt – “Stay the Night”
3 NovJust heard James Blunt’s new single “Stay the Night” for the first time and I’m going to say he’s got another hit on his hands. The song is an upbeat folk-rock track off his forthcoming album Some Kind of Trouble due out in the States in January but in the UK next week. I know, I’m slightly confused by the release dates but if you go to his website you can pre-order the album and have it shipped next week.
