Austin City Limits This Weekend (Live Stream)

If you’re like me and not in Austin for ACL, you’re probably not a happy camper right now. However ACL is streaming live via YouTube and you can click HERE to check in on the festival.

Stevie Wonder – really, no chance I’d miss seeing him perform
Arcade Fire – I don’t care what anyone says, these guys effen rock the festival crowds
My Morning Jacket – they won me back over this summer at Lollapalooza
Nas & Damian – nuff said

Cut Copy – been a fan since randomly seeing these Aussies perform six years ago
Ryan Bingham – one of my favorite performances of the summer and if you know him from “The Weary Kind” oh you have so much more to discover
Randy Newman – seriously just to hear THIS
Fitz & The Tantrums – should be one of the more fun shows of the festival
Delta Spirit – huge fan and only seen them live once
Foster The People& Young The Giant – their rises to stardom this summer, wowsa and both put on hell of performances
Smith Westerns – trust me; go see these kids from Chicago
The Belle Brigade – brother and sister duo that will blow your mind
Aloe Blacc – one of the best voices I have ever heard and quite a showman as well
Mariachi El Bronx – go have some fun with Mexican Independence Day this weekend
James Blake – see what this UK wonder is all about, legit!
Gary Clark Jr. – dude’s got mad talent, up and comer for sure
The Head and The Heart – if you are part of the folk rock movement, check em
North Mississippi Allstars – need no explanation
City and Colour – definitely worth your time
Cults – yeah, they could very well be the next big thing
Alexander – take a seat in the park and enjoy this performance
little hurricane – gritty blues that you’ll dig and Tone & CC are two of the nicest people in the world
Graffiti6 – chances are you’ve never heard of them but after seeing their set, you’ll be craving more and more
Electric Touch – I’ve been dying to see them perform, please someone go for me
Bobby Long – amazingly talented musician
Seth Walker – great singer, songwriter
Chancellor Warhol – one of my favorite performances at Bonnaroo, go check out this Tennessee kid
MilkDrive – just getting into these guys
The Lee Boys – if you want to get down with your bad self, check this show
New Music: NewVillager
29 AugI’m enamored with NewVillager’s self titled album that dropped earlier this month. And to be completely honest, I have no idea why but I seriously cannot stop listening to it. Perhaps it is the vocals in general that are pushed so gracefully or maybe it is the playful harmonies that will easily bring a smile to your face. Courtesy of multi-instrumentalists Ben Bromley and Ross Simonini, NewVillager’s debut album has it all, from quirky guitars and power synths to flat out rhythm that will get that beat going inside of you.
As for my favorite track so far, “Upholder.”
If you are a fan of Empire of the Sun, MGMT and CULTS, you will definitely dig NewVillager.
OMG Coachella 2011 Line-up
18 JanOk so now the planning can officially begin getting underway as the 2011 Coachella line-up has been announced. I am so stoked about this line-up and definitely finding my way to Indio this spring.
At first glance, Day One is top priority. As much as a fan I am of Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Lauren Hill, Cut Copy, Brandon Flowers and all the other top billing acts, I’m more jacked about Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, Here We Go Magic, Klaxons, !!!, The Drums, Afrojack, Ozomatli, The Morning Benders and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti to name a few.
Day Two is going to be a dance party bonanza with Steve Angello, Empire of the Sun, Paul van Dyk, Fedde Le Grand, Laidback Luke, Joachim Garraud, Chuckie and more plus, Raphael Saadiq, Two Door Cinema Club, Foals, the Kills, Mariachi El Bronx plus Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons and so much more!
Day Three has a ton more great artists but I am not as high on it as Days 1 & 2. The return of the Strokes, The National, Duran Duran, Duck Sauce, Eliza Doolittle, Tinie Tempah, and Ben Harper’s Fistful of Mercy should all be insane performances.
All I can say is WOW and while some may start chiming in saying this isn’t the best Coachella line-up in the 12 years I would argue that when we recap the festival later this spring it will go down in the record books as featuring one of the finest collections of music we have ever seen over the course of three days.

New Music: The Swiss
26 AugI don’t know if it’s just me but there seems to be a TON on great music coming from Australia these days. The latest on my constant rotation of Aussie beats is The Swiss, a self-described boutique disco group. The Swiss released an EP titled Bubble Bath earlier this year and it is just killer. Bringing the noise with synthesized strings, laser infused beats and solid, crisp drums, The Swiss are on the verge of stardom in the states.
