James Marshall Hendrix, today would have been his 69th birthday. I’m guessing I’m like many and have a list of artists/bands I wish I could have seen perform live but there is nobody on that list higher than Jimi Hendrix. The greatest guitarist of all time, what a treat it would have been to get a glimpse of the man and the music many of us have grown up listening to and hearing tales of.

21 NovHoly amazing! Talk about one awesome way to start the week, I knew Isle of Wight Festival was preparing to announce the first act for the 2012 Festival but never in my wildest dreams did I even think it would be Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band!
Isle of Wight takes place June 22-24, 2012. Looks like post Bonnaroo is going to include a trip across the pond for me!

News: Tennis Enlist Patrick Carney of The Black Keys for New Album Due February 14

On February 14, indie-pop duo Tennis follow up this year’s Cape Dory with a new album, Young and Old, on Fat Possum. The album was recorded with the Black Keys‘ Patrick Carney manning the decks. Before that, Tennis have a single out on Forest Family, Origins, that’s due on December 6.

@MayerHawthorne Wants to Replace Nickelback in the Lions’ Halftime Show
9 NovHa! This is awesome and I sure hope it happens. Mayer Hawthorne campaigning to replace Nickelback as the Thanksgiving Day halftime performer during the annual Turkey Bowl in Detroit where he just so happens to be from (well Ann Arbor). I mean how can you have a Canadian band play Thanksgiving in the United States? If they were playing halftime of a CFL game during Thanksgiving in Canada, okay, totally fine. Better question may be, who’s bright idea was it to book Nickelback for this in the first place?

Tonight make your way to Book & Stage at The Cosmopolitan where GROUPLOVE will be performing at 10 p.m. and midnight. Fresh off the release of their debut album, Never Trust A Happy Song, this quintuplet is a band you’re going to want to say you saw way back when. These guys were my highlight of Lollapalooza, blowing me away more than their EP I had been listening to on repeat all summer. Not only do they have a great sound but their story is damn cool too. Check out what I wrote back in June for the skinny on the band.
