New Music: Fitz & The Tantrums

11 Nov

While I love discovering new music and find new bands each week, every once in a while I get completely enamored with a band the instant I hear them (like Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears) and the latest is Fitz & The Tantrums. I’m fumbling over words in sheer excitement; I just love their sound which is a mix of soul and indie pop.  Their LP Picken’ Up The Pieces is an amazing one from beginning to end and will most definitely be on heavy rotation for me.  Oh and a cool little fact to their rise in the music industry, Adam Levine of Maroon 5 was in a tattoo parlor in NYC and heard the EP; he then invited them on tour. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.

New Music: Adam Kesher

10 Nov

Who’s going to be the next French band to follow in Phoenix’s footsteps of worldwide stardom? Adam Kesher, that’s who (well I sure hope so).  The quintuplet, yes it’s not just one guy, is legit and definitely a name you should remember.  Their sophomore effort, Challenging Nature is full of energy spanning rock, electro, funk and was produced by Chromeo’s Dave One with some added star power from A-Trak and Philippe Zdar of Cassius.  Still not convinced? Check out the single below, “Gravy Train” to get a taste of what you’ll want to be listening to.

New Music: James Blunt – “Stay the Night”

3 Nov

Just heard James Blunt’s new single “Stay the Night” for the first time and I’m going to say he’s got another hit on his hands.  The song is an upbeat folk-rock track off his forthcoming album Some Kind of Trouble due out in the States in January but in the UK next week.  I know, I’m slightly confused by the release dates but if you go to his website you can pre-order the album and have it shipped next week.

Introducing Tinie Tempah

25 Oct

The wave of hip-hop, electro artists from the UK keeps rising and pumping out chart toppers.  First came Dizzee Rascal then Tinchy Stryder and now Tinie Tempah.  If you’ve never heard of Tinie Tempah, do yourself a favor and make a point to do so.  His debut record, Disc-Overy dropped earlier this month and in London, he is on fire.  Just who is Tinie Tempah?  He won Best Video at the MOBO Awards last week for “Frisky” featuring Labrinth and his latest single “Miami 2 Ibiza” features Swedish House Mafia.  “Invincible” featuring Kelly Rowland should be his next club banger as the rise of Tinie Tempah continues.
