It’s never too late to find good music. If you like the band Pepper you must check out Sabotage Soundsystem, the side project of Pepper’s lead singer Kaleo Wassman. Along with Remy “Dub” DeRochemont, the Hawaiian duo offer up a reggae rock disc that will make you wish you were catching the next plane to the islands. Their debut album, The Boto Machine Gun which was released in 2009 is definitely a disc to check out and have in your collection. Plus listening to Sabotage Soundsystem will help you get through the fall and winter months just dreaming of warm weather.

Michael Franti & Spearhead – The Sound of Sunshine
John Legend & The Roots – Wake Up!
Zac Brown Band – You Get What You Give
Matt Costa – Mobile Chateau
The Script – Science & Faith
Maroon 5 – Hand It All Over
Black Country Communion – Black Country Communion
Jamey Johnson – The Guitar Song
New Music: Kings of Leon – Come Around Sundown
17 SepAs are many, I can’t wait for Come Around Sundown, the fifth release from Kings of Leon to be released in October. What makes me really excited are the few songs I’ve heard already bring me back to Youth and Young Manhood which is my favorite KoL disc and what really made me dig the Tennessee rockers’ sound. While “Radioactive” the first single off Come Around Sundown was released earlier this month, take a listen to “Back Down South” below as this may soon be the next hit from the Followill’s.
Good Shoes – No Hope, No Future
16 SepLately I haven’t been able to get enough of No Hope, No Future, the second studio album from Good Shoes which came out earlier this year. I know I’m on a British rock kick lately but this is a nonstop energy disc that I think you’ll enjoy listening to. If you’re a fan of the Kaiser Chiefs and you haven’t heard of Good Shoes, give a listen. Start by checking out the two songs below “The Way My Heart Beats” and “Times Change.”
G. Love – On 9 11 01 Lyrics
11 SepOn this day of remembrance I wanted to share lyrics from a song G. Love wrote on that unforgettable day and performed at the Rialto Theater in Tucson, AZ.
On 9-11-01 Lyrics
Flags flown at half mast
To remember all the lives past and gone
Before their time had come
From a hijacker’s crash
A terrible blast
A building collapses
and falls to the ground
Who would have known?
So long and hard to make
So easy to break
Foundations quake
To rock your world
Planes exploding in the sky
No one knows the reasons why
Make me wanna cry
How hard it is
to protect yourself
from hatred
you cant understand
dedication to destruction
is their unholy plan
No corporate scenes
they move in a mist
try to shake their hands
while their slicing your wrists
killers beyond comprehensions of our minds
how cowards could burn up blood in the skies
blood in our eyes
on 9-11-01
Planes exploding in the sky
No one knows the reasons why
Hold my little baby tight
make me wanna cry
and find a way
to carry on
New York City on lock down
The whole east coast on lock down
Hold your family close on lock down
Our country mourns the day
so many bright lights
young live were
taken away
forever and ever
And No one can replace
and how can i forget this day
Planes exploding in the sky
No one knows the reasons why
Hold my little baby tight
make me wanna cry
Planes exploding in the sky
On 9-11-01
The day the devils died
To kill our loved ones
hold my little baby tight
On 9-11-01
Make me wanna cry
and find a way
to carry on

The Fratellis – The Goonies???
10 SepIf you remember the Amstel Light commercial from a couple years back, then you know The Fratellis as it featured their song “Chelsea Dagger” which was also the Chicago Blackhawks’ theme song during their Stanley Cup season this past year and I highly suggest you pick up their discs, Costello Music and Here We Stand. “Chelsea Dagger” which is on Costello Music is one of my favorite CDs to date and it came out in 2006. Amid rumors that the Glasgow, Scotland band has broken up and while the fellas are each working on side projects (more posts on this coming soon) I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that they do put out another record soon. We need more of The Fratellis.
And yes, they named the band after The Fratellis from the movie, The Goonies although their bassist Barry Fratelli’s (born Barry Wallace) mother’s maiden name was Fratelli as well.
Trombone Shorty
8 SepWhile I’ve always enjoyed jazz music, it wasn’t until earlier this year when I was captivated by the HBO show Treme that I felt a major craving for New Orleans jazz, blues and funk. Low and behold I came across Trombone Shorty who at 24 has already released six albums and is a hero in The Big Easy. Trombone Shorty brings jazz, funk, rock, soul and some hip-hop to the table and delivers a wonderful sound that you can listen to for hours. Take a look at the video below, view his website and most importantly, listen to his music.
