Photos:Dave Matthews Performs at 9th Annual John Varvatos Stuart House Benefit

13 Mar

I wanted to share some really awesome photos Erik Kabik (www.erikkabik.com) was able to capture over the weekend at the 9th Annual John Varvatos Stuart House Benefit at John Varvatos in Los Angeles, CA on March 11.  The event which Dave Matthews was on hand to provide the entertainment, was co-chaired by Leslie Mann & Judd Apatow and brought together the entertainment, arts, fashion and philanthropic communities in Los Angeles to raise funds for Stuart House. For those who are unfamiliar, Stuart House provides free, 24-hour emergency medical care, state-of-the-art forensic services, professional counseling, advocacy, Court School and other services to help child victims and their families recover from the trauma of sexual abuse.

Revisited: Aerosmith – July 31, 2010

July 31, 2010 – MGM Grand Garden Arena – Las Vegas, Nevada

I made a spur of the moment decision to head on down to MGM Grand and scalp some tickets to the Aerosmith show.  I have seen Steven Tyler solo but it’s no Aerosmith and had tickets to see Aerosmith/KISS years ago before the show was cancelled due to Tyler getting laryngitis so I knew I really wanted to make sure I’d see one of the iconic rock & roll bands of the last 40 years (I have a thing where I try to see all of my favorite artists in concert before it’s too late – kind of like a bucket list for music). Within minutes tickets were in hand and I was going to finally see Aerosmith!  Besides being in an fantastic location to people watch (I swear it was like a time warp with the concert goers), the entire show was a greatest hits concert.  While they may not be the same band as 30 years ago, they can still rock out and put on a damn show. Personally being able to hear “Sweet Emotion” and “Dream On” live was enough for me.  Plus besides Mick Jagger I don’t know another rocker who could sport sequined costumes they way Steven Tyler does.  The only downer of the evening was Joe Perry’s Guitar Hero interlude which I can only imagine how much money they paid to have him take five minutes to endorse the game.  All in a well played last minute decision and being able to cross another band off the bucket list.

Here’s the set list:

Train Kept A Rollin’
Love In An Elevator
Fallin’ In Love
Eat The Rich
Pink
Living on the Edge
What It Takes
Mama Kin
Last Child
Cryin’
Drum Solo
Lord of the Thighs
Guitar Hero Joe
Stop Messin’
Miss A Thing
Sweet Emotion
Baby Please
Draw The Line

Encore
Dream On
Walk This Way
Toys In The Attic
