New Music Tuesday: Phoenix, Frank Turner, The Neighbourhood and Youngblood Hawke
23 AprHooray for new music Tuesday this week! The anticipated album Bankrupt! from French rockers Phoenix finally dropped as did Frank Turner’s Tape Deck Heart, The Neighbourhood’s I Love You and if you head over to iTunes you can snag an exclusive of Youngblood Hawke’s Wake Up. There are also a ton more great releases today but these four are what’s been on repeat for me.

- If you are in Las Vegas tonight there is a rocking show set to take place at the Hard Rock Cafe on The Strip. Gold Fields, A Silent Film and Royal Teeth share the billing. Local band, American Cream opens the show at 8:30 p.m. If you want to hear some of the rising bands in music today, I highly encourage you to check this show out.
- Speaking of shows, there are a ton of SXSW artists rolling through town on their way to Austin. Beauty Bar has a solid lineup which includes David Wax Museum on Saturday evening. Also downtown tomorrow night is the Vegas Streats two-year anniversary party. Going to be a fun one!
- O.A.R. dropped dates on their upcoming summer tour which includes a powerful set of opening acts in Allen Stone and Andrew McMahon (Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate).
- Hangout Music Festival quietly added their third headliner, Stevie Wonder
- Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 7 as the next Life Is Beautiful Downtown Las Vegas Music Showcase takes place at Commonwealth.

22 FebDeap Vally, a duo that if you haven’t listened to before, you better get on ’em because they are going to become a household name very soon. Give a listen to the Cali duo’s “Gonna Make My Own Money” and you’ll get an idea why! Anyways, they’re over in the UK and performed live last night on BBC Radio 1 and here’s a video of them covering Jake Bugg’s “Lightning Bolt.”
ESPN NBA Song Reimagined via The Mowgli’s, Ozomatli, The Heavy and more
31 JanOk, this is simply awesome and a must listen. Props to ESPN for gathering up eight musicians/bands to remix the long standing NBA theme song that goes along with the broadcast on the sports mothership. Click HERE to access the link and view remixes which includes The Mowgli’s, Ozomatli (always fun to hear them do sports remixes, search “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”) and The Heavy. You vote and the winner gets their version played during the NBA All Star Game this year.
