Check it out, the brand new music video for Kid Cudi and Kanye’s collaboration “Erase Me” off of Cudi’s forthcoming album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. The video is styled as an ode to Jimi Hendrix and co-stars McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse).
Alooooooooha! A great new music Tuesday as Stitches, the latest installment from Pepper is out today! The five-song EP from the Hawaiians gives us their first new songs since 2008 so make sure to give a listen and check them out on tour this fall.
In honor of it being Friday, here’s a song to help put a smile on your face and get set for the weekend. One of my favorites, “Peace & Love” by Mexico 70. Enjoy!
I am seriously becoming a huge fan of Brandon Flowers the solo artist and keep being amazed at what he’s doing. His latest music video, “Only the Young” is sensational and was filmed in the theatre and with the cast of Le Reve, the show at Wynn. I think by now everyone knows Flowers’ affection with his hometown(s) of Las Vegas/Henderson but this is just tremendous and a beautiful video. Take four minutes and watch for yourself.
If you don’t have it already, make sure to pick up his solo effort, Flamingo.
I’m excited that tonight HBO is premiering the Bruce Springsteen documentary “The Promise: The Making of ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town.’ ” To think that this is unreleased footage from 30 years ago is wild and any fan of The Boss should be glued to the couch or set the DVR as this is a can’t miss. Check out the preview below.
Great piece in the New York Times today by Jon Caramanica about Bruno Mars, his rise to fame and new album Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Check it out here.
I came across the band Graffiti6 and was instantly hooked and that was before I discovered who the masterminds behind the kicking music are. The British pop/rock duo of producer/DJ Tommy D (Jay-Z, Kanye West, Joss Stone, Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue and wait for it…..Right Said Fred “I’m Too Sexy”) and singer/songwriter Jamie Scott put together an album that was a pleasant surprise and delivers a great soundtrack for the workday, a road trip and just good old hanging around the house. Check out the single “Stare Into The Sun” from the album Colours below and if you like it, I promise you’ll dig the rest of their music!
Yet another Australian band on my musical radar, Hungry Kids of Hungary. The Brisbane quartette just released their debut album, Escapades and I think we can expect big things from these guys as they bring their sound to the States. Their music sounds as if they are taking us back to the 60s with harmonic melodies and an indie-pop sound that keeps you intrigued and craving more.
If you’re a fan of Vampire Weekend and OK Go, I think you’ll dig HKoH. Check out the video below for “Wristwatch” and judge for yourself.
I can’t believe I neglected this for a few days but everyone needs to stop what they are doing and listen to Mark Ronson & The Business Intl disc Record Collection. To me, Ronson is one of the most gifted musical minds there is and this CD is another smashing success. The Grammy Award winning artist/producer hits a home run with an album full of tracks featuring many household names including Q-Tip, D’Angelo, Boy George, Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran), Alex Greenwald (Phantom Planet), Nick Hodgson (Kaiser Chiefs), Ghostface Killah, Spank Rock, Andrew Wyatt (Miike Snow), Theophilus London and more.
